The footwear industry’s leading international trade fair, MICAM Milano happened on March 13-15, 2022, and we were there! This fair is a unique event that attracts exhibitors and buyers from all over the world. This edition the event took place in the Fiera Milano Rho trade fair district, and the footwear brands showcased the A/W 2022/23 collections to many visitors and other brands. With more than 1700 footwear collections at each edition, the fair combines successfully lots of business and of course fashion!
Furthermore, the fashion fair was held together with MIPEL, a trade fair for leather bags and accessories, and THE ONE MILANO dedicated to the clothing sector.
The fair was an huge opportunity to try to relaunch the sector once again, after Covid, despite the current tension of the conflict in Ukraine.
Our team were at the fair doing business, talking about costumers projects, looking for the new trends, getting aware of the new collections, keeping up with sustainability updates, and also becoming informed about the latest insights of the footwear industry. This way, we are even more updated on the industry and are totally ready to face new challenges.
MICAM is the landmark event for every professional on the footwear industry, there we can see premium and contemporary shoe collections. This edition we saw different collections with a special emphasis on the quality, innovation and design. The focus of attention was at the Emerging Designers area. There, we had the opportunity to see their creativity and vision of future, as well as lots of new trends.
The MICAM Milano Theme – Fairy-Tale World
The fabulous fairy-tale world of the fashion fair continues with “Glamorous Magic”, the second episode of the campaign “MICAM Glass slipper”! The MICAM Glass Slipper short film was part of the official selection of the eighth edition of the Milan Fashion Film Festival. So, in pavilion 3, there was the Tales Square space, an area inspired by the Glass Slipper communication campaign.
MICAM X
At a time that the footwear industry is going through a many deep changes in both production processes and the philosophy of footwear, MICAM X comes back with a stage for the most innovative high-tech proposals. Furthermore, MICAM X is also a source of inspiration and a meeting point for cutting-edge enterprises and speakers from all over the world.
MICAM X had a calendar of debates and events that people could listen and be part of. The themes were: Art, fashion, heritage and the future; Trends and Materials; Sustainability; and The future of retail.
MICAM Green Zone
The most important innovation was the Green Zone area. This zone is dedicated to sustainability, and was at pavilion 7. This area shows how to achieve concrete and measurable goals when it comes to sustainability. During the fair was also possible to have a demo of VCS (Verified and Certified Steps), a certification brand owned by Assocalzaturifici, designed for the footwear industry with the aims of getting the highest standards in sustainability. VCS can help brands and companies turning their sustainability aspirations into actions.
