With everything prepared for the recovery of the textile sector, fairs are coming again. Portugal Textile were at Modtissimo 58 during October´s 8th.
Modtissimo is the one and only fair in the Portuguese textile sector and the oldest in the entire Iberian Peninsula. This fair is held twice a year – in February at Oporto Airport and in September/October at Alfândega do Porto. It gathers from yarn producers to garment manufacturers. And serves as a showcase for one of the largest textile clusters across the Europe.
This time, the fair registered a record number of both exhibitors and buyers, during October 7th and 8th. Among the areas of fabrics, accessories, and clothing, this edition were featured with the presentation of more than 400 new collections by 280 exhibitors.
With the growing buzz around sustainability between the textile and fashion sector, Modtissimo, have done a collaboration with CITEVE. They presented the biggest iTechStyle Green Circle with more than 40 coordinates. This initiative presented innovator projects of many national organizations. There were also a section for new emergent designers and talents.
Trends
When it comes to trends, the textile trends of the season A/W 22/23 had their place on the Color and Fabric Trends Forum. According to the organizers of the event, this exhibition had the mission of showing buyers and visitors the companies` products that were present. This section of the fair had a very important role because it represents a bottom line for the suppliers and for the sector to restart.
Furthermore, Modtissimo had created a program of conferences and seminars. So, the people that have interest in learning more about the future of fashion could participate.
Portugal Textile had the opportunity to be at the WGSN Autumn/Winter 2022/2023 Trends Forecasting presentation. We had the chance to learn more about some fashion and accessory specific trends, and to get lots of insights for your next clothing collections. Such as new designs, new fabrics, new emergent approaches and many other topics.
Sustainability
One of our favorite parts were the Sustainable Forum – Trends In The Air. There were exhibited the products and fabrics that contribute for a more eco-friendly fashion, and an ethical responsible impact. There, we had the opportunity to choose and see many high quality textiles and trendy fabrics for you!
We also had the chance to know more about how can fashion brands incorporate zero waste and upcycling techniques using materials from Portuguese Manufactures. We had some updates about the current challenges brands are facing, and of course the solutions.
