After the Sofa Edition, the best of national fashion design went out to the streets at Oporto. During Portugal Fashion were presented the fashion proposals and trends for the next seasons. So, many portuguese designers shown their work on the runways. The edition is the 49th of Portugal Fashion and happened in Oporto in a face format. During the fashion event occurred 35 fashion shows and spring/summer 22 presentations of nearly 50 brands, creators and designers.
On the second day of the event, happened the “Bloom Upload”, which is a Portugal Fashion’s platform that supports young national designers. Maria Carlos Batista, Marcelo Almiscarado, Huarte, Rita Ibs, and many others presented their collections at “Bloom Upload”.
Furthermore, the winners of the ‘Bloom PWD By Sonae’ contest was announced. They were Maria Carlos Batista and Marcelo Almiscarado. There was also a space to reveal the winner of the ‘Eco Design’ contest, by Famalicão Cidade of textile, which were Vítor Dias.
Sustainability, irreverence, color and trends walked through the runway with lots of glamour.

Maria Carlos Batista
Maria Carlos Batista is a young designer. After an injury that pushes she away from her dance life, she saw in fashion a new path. With dance as her background and inspiration, Maria shows how movement can be so much more than what we create with our bodies. So, movement can be seen in fabrics, shapes and silhouettes in the pieces that she make. The designer created the collection Mátria SS22, inspired in a parallel universe. Furthermore, the collection intends to transmit a version of ourselves that lives a different life from ours. “For all infinite possibilities to happen, infinite universes must exist.”
Vítor Dias
Vítor Dias is a fashion designer from Guimarães. Some of the inspirations for his creations are: science, the occult and social dynamics. Nowadays, he’s known for his manual craft, and for the exquisite pieces, where the classic and sporty style are combined with each other perfectly. Furthermore, recently, he won the Eco Design Bloom Contest PWD by Famalicão Textile City., with his collection “They Are Blossing”. This collection is a reflection of today’s society, which falsely leads us to believe that we are accepted just as we are. “They Are Blossing” is collection with a safari militaristic feel. It represents the struggle waged for the acceptance of our own nature, composed of moral contradictions that need to be broken by society.
Estelita Mendonça
Estelita Mendonça completed the Fashion Design course in 2008, which he attended at the Porto Fashion Academy. He presents its collections seasonally at Bloom Portugal Fashion, since October 2010. Recently he presented his collection and used workwear clothing, which reminds people of the idea of uniform identity. Furthermore, he rework materials, textures, shapes and techniques. Associated with an idea of nomadism and with a strong political component, Estelita is a space for questioning and constant research that seeks to convey a strong message about the his point of view in relation to the world and humanity.
Pé de Chumbo
Alexandra Oliveira the author of Pé de Chumbo. The designer created this brand shortly after her degree. From Guimarães, Pé de Chumbo has been producing fashion collections for women for some years. Her collection from SS2 are made manly with linen yarns and recycled fibre ribbons. Furthermore, the blocks of color celebrate normality and contrast with the monochromatic black and white in more relaxed pieces. It’s a collection to bring people back to elegance, to the streets, to glamour, to parties.
Inês Torcato
Inês Torcato, born in Oporto and finished her degree in Fashion Design at ESAD Matosinhos in 2014. Recently, she created “Us” collection. This collection talks about freedom, the freedom to be whoever we want. So, this collection was designed, conceptualised, produced and presented in Portugal, in a constant effort to get closer to full sustainability. And because Inês Torcato still believe in change and evolution, she defend that fashion, as Culture, is for everyone.
